About Us

Project SHIFT Inc. (SHIFT stands for Sharing Helpful Information For Transition). We provide social service intervention for individuals who need assistance with applying for any program that would aid their current social, medical, and/ or economic circumstances. 

Generally for individuals who require resources, information and guides we are “Sharing Helpful Information for Transition.” Our services cater to individuals who require assistance with completing applications for Medicaid/Medicare/Social Security/Veterans benefits/Welfare/Utility assistance/housing and any other such like benefits and/or accommodation. A Service Request Form must be completed prior to any service rendered. A Service Request Form can be completed online on this site or over the phone by calling (856) 318-1856


SHIFT is primarily designed to patron to the individual or agencies who have individuals who require assistance due to either a physical or mental impairment and would require some advocacy from a third party with consent of that individual. SHIFT will not discriminate and will offer assistance to anyone who may request it despite their circumstance, age, race or cultural background.

Our Mission

We aim to assist individuals with their social service needs, including anything regarding one's welfare, social security, veteran's disability, and housing needs. Our primary focus is on the mentally ill, senior citizens, and the veteran population.


This is because we empathize with this particular vulnerable demographic and what they go through. So, we want to give them a better chance at life. We also assist all individuals who request our assistance.

Our Services Include


Services provided include but are not limited to:

-Scheduling intake and food stamps appointments with the board of social services

-Providing resources/financial supports for housing with care providers for temporary housing

-Assist in applying for the re-determination and reinstating of benefits with the Social Security Administration and the department of Veteran Affairs

-Assist w.Obtain vital records to include social security cards, birth certificates/marriage certificates/death certificates, etc.

-Assist in applying for SSI and/or SSD

-Completing applications for residents of Residential Healthcare Facilities as needed for the change of payee to be that of the RHCFs when required and submitting applications to the local SSA office before or soon after admission reflecting the changes. 

-Follow up on COP (Change of Payee) applications already submitted.

-Inquire about the status of residents whose benefits may be suspended due to a requirement for C.D.R. or imprisonment or institution and to seek retroactive entitlements according to the current living arrangement.

- Clients who have overpayment deductions that exceed $10 a month, to get the payment reduced as low as $10 a month.

- For clients whose entitlements are reduced due to child support garnishment, to schedule family court hearings with the intent to reduce child support to accommodate rent required to their respected residential healthcare facilities.

-To update any living arrangement changes to the SSA for the clients and to retrieve money due to the residential healthcare care facility based on living arrangement.

-For those who are receiving SSD and is eligible for Medicaid thru NJFC or NJFC/ABD or Medically needy, Global Options, Workability- to complete/submit applications and schedule appointments if needed for the clients

-To request a Medicaid referral for the clients as needed for SSI recipients who may be in suspense.

-To complete and submit Medicaid applications of any kind as needed to either the local BOSS or One Port Center/Trenton Medicaid offices for the clients
